What a great spot on the Ohio River! My husband and I have traveled to Derby and stayed in Ohio River Cabins two different years. We have enjoyed the amenities greatly! Great spot to be at. And don't forget to eat at Marcy's in Leopold. Friendly place with great food. We'll be back and maybe plan a family reunion here!

We stayed there a few years ago, it was great not having cell phone reception, having with family and enjoying life. Price was good too.
If you're considering renting from Vinnie, please read the whole comment. My family along with my brother in law, his kids and my mother in law always have one last hoorah before the kids head back to school. This year we decided to head to Holiday World and stay in a cabin on the Ohio River. Upon arriving to Vinnies Cabin, we found it quite suitable and clean. Had 3 good sized bedrooms and was accommodating for all 8 of us. The cabin wasn't the problem. We had opted to rent a boat from Vinnie as well during our stay. The boat was docked just down from the cabin which was actually very close. My brother in law and I went down to inspect the boat before taking off with everyone in the morning. When we got to the boat, it was absolutely filthy. There had been a dog on the boat very recently as there were muddy dog prints all over the seats. The floor of the boat was covered in a thin layer of dirt and mud along with what appeared to be mold. A large spiderweb hung just above the captains chair and the additional seating on the front of the boat seemed to be patio furniture and a plastic garden bench. Neither of those seating options were actually attached to the boat itself. I decided to try and clean the boat a bit as everyone was still wanting to head out on the water. I took my own cleaning supplies down to the boat and also a rickety mop and broom I had found in the cabin. I spent just over an hour cleaning and by then, my frustrations along with everyone else's had come to a head. I decided to call Vinnie to inquire about the condition of the boat. I let him know there were muddy dog prints all over the seats to which he responded "there hasn't been a dog on that boat" and "there shouldn't have been a dog on that boat" and asked me "did YOU have a dog on that boat?" I told him we hadn't even been on the boat other than to check it out and then to clean it. He asked "so what do you want me to do about it?" and I could tell he was getting agitated which was completely uncalled for at this point as I am his guest renting from him. I simply stated to him again that we found the boat in less than desireable condition and I had spent over an hour of MY time cleaning it to make it suitable for us. He then interrupted me with "fine then, I'll give you a reduced rate. I'll reduce the rate, do you hear me?" I could sense his frustration and said "yes Vinnie, I can hear you just fine. He then said "or don't use the boat, just let me know". I assured him we would let him know our plan with the boat. There really was no reason for Vinnie to get upset with Me. The condition of the boat wasn't what we expected nor would it be for anyone else paying $200 for the day PLUS gas. Needless to say, we left a day early from our original plan and we won't be renting from Vinnie again. Hopefully you find this helpful. I will update as soon as I find out what Vinnie decides to charge our card on file with him. At this point we are a bit concerned.
